Asbestos Inspector (Initial)


Course Description:

This is a 24‑hour course designed to for individuals who will inspect for asbestos‑containing materials in buildings or facilities. It is required for those who work under the supervision of a facility or firm licensed under Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission 20 CAR § 860-101 (Regulation 21).

24 Hours


Learning Outcomes:

  • Identification of building systems containing asbestos (e.g., insulation, flooring, roofing, HVAC)-related work.
  • Identify exposure pathways and risk factors
  • Recognizing friable vs. non-friable asbestos-containing materials (ACM)
  • Recoginize sampling and documentation requirements and procedures.

Must Know:

  • Attendance is mandatory for all
  • Must pass both written and practical exams with 70% or better for certification to be awarded
  • Daily breaks are scheduled – please bring or plan to get lunch
