Traffic Safety Course
Course Description:
This 8-hour course is designed for employees who work on or near roadways, highways, construction zones, and other areas where moving vehicles and equipment create occupational hazards. The course helps participants recognize traffic-related hazards and understand methods for protecting workers and the traveling public. Topics include work-zone and traffic hazards, detours, temporary traffic-control considerations, roadway and driving conditions, worker visibility, safety equipment, warning signs and devices, vehicle and mobile-equipment hazards, and other physical hazards associated with roadway work.

Learning Outcomes:
- Identify traffic, roadway, vehicle, equipment, and physical hazards associated with working on or near active roadways.
- Apply appropriate work-zone safety practices, visibility measures, traffic-control concepts, and hazard controls to reduce the risk of roadway-related incidents.
Must Know:
- Attendance is mandatory for all
- Must pass both written and practical exams with 70% or better for certification to be awarded
- Daily breaks are scheduled – please bring or plan to get lunch
